We got our courage of building a cutting edge technology
based education center, from the books written by our
beloved President, Professor A P J Abdul Kalam and a
book "The World is Flat" by Thomas L. Freidman. We liked
it so much, that we presented the copies of this book to
all the Principals of the technical colleges in
Murshidabad district, that we visited this year.
We
found that there is a strong opinion from the corporate
that the Indian students lack the practical knowledge
while doing their graduation courses. And hence, the
companies need to invest heavily on the training of
their recruited manpower in India. This delays the
process of getting a person to work
productively as soon as he joins the organization.
The universities can not tie up their courses around the
vendor's module, as that will make them following one
particular vendor in their curriculum.
So, we
stepped in. We stepped in with a mission. A mission to
take this cutting edge education system to the district
levels of India. There is NOT only Bangalore, Mumbai,
Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad. There are Berhampore,
Malda, Belgaum, Coonoor, West Dinajpur etc. So, we
decided to open up our centers in those district head
quarter towns, with only one condition of at least 2
Graduate Engineering Colleges in it. So, we started our
first such setup at Berhampore, in Murshidabad District
in West Bengal. Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore are not
currently featuring in our education roadmap.
We
have put more stress on vendor certifications like
Microsoft Certification, Cisco Certification, SUN
certification,
etc. as that gives the student an
International level exposure and certification. We do
not consider ourselves as genius and hence like to
follow the vendor like Microsoft, Cisco's proven path of
education.
We also
felt that there is a need to get the latest in Microsoft
Knowledgebase for the students to really improve. Hence,
we have subscribed to
MS
Technet
(a USD 700 value) and
MSDN
Library
(a USD 100 value) from Microsoft. We subscribed to
another International Magazine,
Windows
IT Pro
(USD 99 value) and
Harvard
Business Review
(USD 165
Value per year), for the benefit of the technical and
business managerial minded students. We also subscribed
to Project management Institute based
PMI
Magazine
for the graduate engineers, who wants to become leaders
in their projects. PMI is the most coveted certificate
of all.
From our
overseas exposure, we came to learn that here seldom do
a teacher put blame on his students.
If a student does not understand a topic, its taken as
teacher's failure, which we found has more scientific
base than the other way round. To improve our education
delivery, we have included one section named as "Scientific
Study", which we believe will help all
the parents, teachers and students. Here we will publish
the articles, that we can have access to, in the
International arena. We also have started one
FORUM
for Students of Murshidabad
District dedicated to students from Murshidabad
District only, for their different kind of queries and
their answers. We strongly felt that this section
is much needed in Indian districts, than anywhere
else. Let us all, take the benefit of modern research in
this area.
We will
also conduct
corporate training
at Berhampore, which is having a historical significance
and people can enjoy the abundant beauty of nature, away
from the din and bustle of the crowded cities.
